This fund is to help Maasai girls in Kenya that are at high risk of genital mutilation, child marriage and/or are orphans. Sponsorship covers their education, school supplies, medical needs, field trips and uniforms.
We have two types of sponsorship –
1. Full year sponsorship
2. Partial sponsorship where several sponsors help to cover the full year cost for the same child. This amount can be whatever you are comfortable with.
If you come on one of the three annual Global Village Ministries service trips, we spend a day at THE OLMALAIKA HOME and you would be able to meet the child you sponsor. If you cannot come on one of the trips you are still able to write letters and/or send a little care packages to her if you would like to. The girls in turn love to write back.
"Borehole Project":We need our OWN well so we are stepping out in faith and working on raising US$60,000 ~ with that we will be able to get allthe surveys, permits, licenses,
borehole dug (175- 200 meters), a steel tower
and tank.. Having our own will enable
us to have clean drinking water and enough
water for laundry and our garden, and just
maybe enough to provide mama's in the
community with clean drinking water instead
of them having to fill up at the river.
"Kitchen Project" - our kitchen has been "open" with walls only 1/3rd of the way up. We need to totally enclose the kitchen, adding 3 doors and windows. It will cost us around US$2500
"Gate/Road Project" -we are working on getting our own little road into the home vs using the high schools gate. It will make it easier for deliveries, better security for the home and easier for guests to find us. US$2000
"Furniture Project" - we desperately need 2 large tables, 6 benches, 5 book cases . US$ 1575
"Solar Batteries Project" - the lighting at the home is not as bright as it should be at night and the lights often go out leaving the home in darkness. We would like to add a bit more power to our solar unit to be able to provide good lighting and security. US$1500

If you collect any of the above items we ask that you contact us and we will either have you mail it to our office or directly to a specific person traveling to Kenya with GVM.
